All the mixed media diptychs in this series were made on site at the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Kelp Forest Exhibit.

Giant Kelp presents me with seemingly mysterious organic forms, I am taken by its swaying movements through the, at times, conceptually abyssal space of the sea. I am fascinated by its ability to absorb nutrients and sunlight through its slimy leaf like appendages. I am also intrigued by its resilience to the harsh sea environment.
